Main Idea
Jesus is closer than we realize, even when grief and disappointment make him hard to recognize.
The message followed the two disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24. They were walking away from Jerusalem after the crucifixion, carrying confusion, rumors of an empty tomb, and the pain of disappointed expectations.
Jesus came near and walked with them before they recognized him. He opened the Scriptures, reframed their story, and was finally known by them in the breaking of bread.
The invitation was to notice where Jesus is already present, to let Scripture open our eyes, and to invite him to stay rather than continuing down the road alone.
